Pre-conference Doctoral Consortium Dutch HRM Network & pHResh

We would like to cordially invite you to the pre-conference Doctoral Consortium of the 10th International Conference of the Dutch HRM Network (Nijmegen, 9-10 November 2017). The Doctoral Consortium is co-organized by the Dutch HRM Network and pHResh (PhD community).

The pre-conference Doctoral Consortium will take place at the Institute for Management Research (IMR), Radboud University (Nijmegen). Registration for the consortium opens on the 1st of April 2017. You can find the program below, including information on how to apply.

09.00 - 09.30 / Welcome with coffee and tea

09.30 - 09.45 / Plenary welcome and brief explanation of the program by pHResh

09.45 - 10.30 / Key-note presentations by Leonie Heres PhD and Luc Dorenbosch PhD
Theme: The Science-Practitioner Gap
Dr. Leonie Heres is assistant professor of Governance at the Utrech School of Governance (Utrecht University). Dr. Luc Dorenbosch is program manager at NSvP and independent job engineer.

10.45 - 12.30 / Workshops
Small group workshops with a researcher or professional. The topics for the workshops are:
(1) Getting research funding - Stefan Dormans PhD;
(2) Mindfulness - Drs. Math Janssen;
(3) Introduction to QCA - Ayse Saka PhD;
(4) Introduction to Q-method - Leonie Heres PhD;
(5) Life after PhD (career planning) - Jeroen Meijerink PhD;
(6) Submitting a paper - Matthijs Bal PhD.
Each participant can attend two workshops (workshop 1 from 10.45 till 11.30 and workshop 2 from 11.45 till 12.30)

12.30 - 13.30 / Lunch

13.30 - 15.30 / Present your own research
PhD students present their own research progress in small parallel groups (4-5) and discuss this with peers and a senior scholar who supervises the session. Contributions don't necessarily have to be full papers, but can also be question about how to frame your paper, the research design of a project, first results of a data collection, etcetera. The groups will be divided based on the topcis of the contributions of the participants. The PhD students are asked to provide their contribution three weeks in advance so that all participants can prepare by reading the contributions. Every PhD student gives a short presentation (5-10 minutes), after which there is 20-25 minutes for group discussion, in which the senior scholar as well as all other participants provide feedback.

We will meet and walk together to visit the Radboud University Medical Center.

16.00 - 18.00 / Visit Radboud UMC

How to apply?

Registration for the doctoral consortium opens on the 1st of April 2017 via registration for the Dutch HRM conference.

The attendance of the doctoral consortium is free of charge for participants of the Dutch HRM Network Conference. However, there is a limited number of participants, so if you wish to attend the consortium, please register as early as possible.
Information about the preparation for the Doctoral Consortium will be sent to the participants in October.
